October is breast cancer month, and it’s a great time to schedule your annual mammogram at UHS. Annual mammograms are recommended for women aged 40 and over, or on the schedule your doctor recommends based on your personal risk factors. Early detection is the key to successful treatment of breast cancer.
Mammography is available in Norwich, Walton, and Sidney, plus the newest location of the nationally-accredited UHS Breast Center — UHS Vestal. The centers have the latest digital mammography equipment. Compassionate staff quickly read mammograms to reduce the amount of time women spend worrying about results. When follow-up is needed, it is scheduled immediately so cancer can be ruled out or diagnosed right away.
UHS wants to inspire more women to get regular mammograms with the “Pearls of Wisdom” program. Every woman who has a mammogram at UHS will receive a complimentary silver chain and one pearl for each mammogram. Pearls are a symbol of wisdom, and nothing is smarter than having a yearly mammogram.
